Gbenga Odogun, Lokoja
The Kogi State Government said on Wednesday that it would soon recruit 3,700 teachers.
The state Chairman of Science Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission, Mr Afolabi Raji, said this at the inauguration of the Quality Assurance Directorate in the education system in Lokoja, the state capital.
Raji, who attributed the decline in education standard to lack of quality supervision, said the commission would do everything possible to reverse the trend.
He said, “Most leaders today attended public schools. We have observed that over time, that the standard of education in public schools has continued to go down. That is why principals and administrators in the education sector do not want their children to attend public schools.
“Governor Yahaya Bello has granted the approval for the recruitment of 3,700 teachers. Teachers welfare and instructional materials would be provided to enhance teaching and learning activities.”
